Fait Accompli?

"Have you finished the album yet? Tekkin a long time innit?"

These are the words that have been ringing in each of our ears more and more frequently of late.

Almost 6 months? Yes. I suppose this does seem like a long time to be recording an album until you take into consideration the fact that most of us still work full time, that we have been gigging throughout this 6 months, that we had a week or two off in between the first sessions and the beginning of the mixing process, that apart from the past few weeks (which have been full of 5 day weeks) we have only been working on the album 2 or 3 days a week.

We decided this week in a conversation with Boweseh (Andy Bowes - Catapult Studios owner, The Loungs' album partner in crime and our new best friend/adopted father figure) that all in all we have ACTUALLY only spent approximately 6 weeks on the completion of the album which is fairly normal and not too shoddy at all.

Some of these weeks were a lot of fun. Some were a little more strained. Some were even sober but all were crucial in creating the finished product and this week we finally distributed copies of the album between the six members of the band for a last week of deliberation before putting it to bed, sending it away for the final mastering process and handing it over to Akoustik Anarkhy for release.

It has to be said that we are all very happy and proud with our debut long player and hope that y'all will like it too when it is released some time early next year.

What we do know is that all the time spent in the wonderful Catalyst Studios over the past 6 months has whet our appetites for further exploration into the world of recorded output and that not only can you look forward to the release of an album that spans The Loungs' songwriting career so far (Stay tuned for a tracklisting vey, vey soon!) but that it will hopefully be followed by some brand spanking stuff very soon after.

In the meantime we can guarantee that the first time you will hear anything from our album, probably in the shape of our new single, will be on the mighty Cloud Sounds podcast which can be downloaded here:
